Bathurst Tack Box opened in a drought in 2017 in a tiny room on Sydney Rd Bathurst.
"It was following trying to obtain kit for our pony club show team at Sydney, and finding nothing could be bought locally and everything had to be new" says owner, Anna Blackburn.
The concept that the horse riding, driving and training community could share items by selling unwanted tack and clothes in a local shop was born.
It became so successful that the Bathurst Tack Box moved to bigger premises in the December of 2017 and took its current form.
Not all brands are welcome at Bathurst Tack Box for new product lines.
Strict criteria are met before stock is bought for our community.
It must be locally made, owned and if not possible then a small Aussie business is the distributor or manufacturer.
That's why the International Animal Health, Champion Tails, Bare Equestrian, Dolans, outback jeans, Baxter boots, Robank and Furneys, Tulmur and Cinches Down Under brands are in store.
You will find over 20 local made brands are here too.
This has proved a sustainable way to supply more than 100000 horse people in Bathurst area and beyond through fires, drought, floods and a pandemic.
Now with our workshop learning space and the expansion of locally herbal remedies, the future is bright for the Bathurst Tack Box.
